BATON ROUGE – LSU will have 13 of its student-athletes representing the gymnastics, track and field and volleyball programs team up with students of the LSU School of Medicine this week in the annual “Camp Tiger” held on the LSU campus.
Camp Tiger builds relationships between local children with special needs and LSU student-athletes while also reinforcing the passion of future doctors and nurses.
On Monday, campers were given a behind-the-scenes look at the LSU Football Operations Facility before participating in games with student-athletes from numerous teams.
“Seeing the amount of people caring for these kids is inspiring,” said gymnast Jessie Jordan. “It is a beautiful thing to be able to interact with these children at LSU. I’m proud to be a Tiger.”
“We all had just as much fun as they did simply running around and playing different games,” volleyball’s Katie Lindelow said. “I know they had a blast, and we were so glad to be able to spend that time with them.”
Camp Tiger’s main objective is to provide a free environment in which children are not singled out for their disabilities.
