BATON ROUGE – Baton Rouge native and former LSU women’s All-SEC golfer Tessa Teachman is getting her shot to play the LPGA Tour stop in Mobile, Ala., this week thanks to her success on the Suncoast Series in Florida.
Teachman, who was part of two third place team finishes for the LSU women’s golf team in 2011 and 2012, won the Suncoast Series event in Orlando at the Reunion Resort with a 54-hole total of 1-under par 215. Part of the prize was an exemption into this week’s event.
After Thursday’s first round, Teachman is in 83rd place at 1-over 73.
