Lady Tigers Set to Face Wildcats at SEC's

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The LSU women’s tennis team will take on the No. 42 University of Kentucky in the first round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament on Wednesday at 2 p.m. CT.

“This is an exciting time of year,” head coach Julia S. Sell said. “Every practice has been in preparation for this event and NCAAs. We have a chance to play a very good Kentucky team again after a heartbreaking loss to them during the regular season.”

The Lady Tigers faced a close 4-3 loss to Kentucky on March 3 at home. With a tied 3-3 score, the Wildcats notched the final point of the day in the third set of competition on court five.

LSU earned the No. 14 seed and marked an overall 8-15 record with a 1-12 in conference during regular season play. No. 42 Kentucky is the 11th-seeded team after finishing 13-11 overall and 4-9 in the SEC.

Freshman Ella Taylor leads the Lady Tigers with 13 singles victories this season in dual match competition, including five in conference. The senior pair of Keri Frankenberger and Ebie Wilson holds the team lead in dual match doubles, compiling nine season wins.

The winner of Wednesday’s match will face sixth-seeded Vanderbilt, the No. 18 team in the nation, in the second round on Thursday.

LSU holds a 17-18 overall record against the Wildcats.
