FRISCO, Texas – Tessa Teachman, who finished her LSU career with a third-place finish in the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships, has qualified through for the United States Women’s Open to be held July 5-8 in Kohler, Wisc.
Teachman, who recently graduated from LSU following her senior season, rallied from a three-over 75 in the opening round of the 36-hole qualifier with a three-under 69 to tie for medalist honors at even par 144. She was tied with Gabriella Dominguez (73-71).
“I’m just really excited,” Teachman said in The Advocate Friday. “It’s been a busy past couple of week. We finished third (at the NCAAs), I turned pro and then this happened … Things just started to clock. IT worked really well.”
Teachman shot a 72-hole total of 1-under 287 to finish third in her last college event and she has been a part of the LSU teams that have finished back-to-back in third place in the NCAA Championships, the best finishes ever for the LSU women’s golf team.
