BATON ROUGE – LSU’s new head men’s basketball coach Johnny Jones was invited to a meet and greet with members of the state legislature during its Tuesday afternoon meetings at the state Capitol.
With both the house and senate in the middle of their regular sessions, Jones was invited to the two chambers where he was introduced and mingled with the senators and representatives and made a few remarks to the senators in between their work on bills and various committee reports.
Among those meeting with Jones was a long-time state Hall of Fame high school basketball coach who now serves the Haughton area in Northwest Louisiana as its representative, Billy Montgomery.
Jones, after leaving the capitol, headed to New Orleans for Tuesday night’s Tiger Tour stop at the Hilton Riverside Hotel in downtown New Orleans. He will throw out the first pitch Friday night and will sign autographs in the fan zone at the first game of the LSU-Vanderbilt baseball series at 7 p.m. at Alex Box Stadium.
