BATON ROUGE – The LSU women’s golf team remained sixth in the latest Golf World/NGCA Division I College Women’s Coaches’ Poll announced on Wednesday by the National Golf Coaches Association.
The Lady Tigers, winners of three tournaments this season, will tee off Friday in the Southeastern Conference women’s championships in Fayetteville, Ark.
UCLA held on to the No. 1 spot in the poll with the Bruins earning 23-of-the-26 available first-place votes. Alabama at No. 2, earned the other three first-place votes with Arizona State at three, USC at four and Auburn, in at No. 5.
Vanderbilt dropped from seven to nine, while Georgia remained in 10. Tennessee moved up two spots to 12th with Florida up two to 15th. South Carolina made its debut in the poll at No. 25 giving the SEC eight teams in the top 25 going into the conference championships.
The Lady Tigers flew out Wednesday to Fayetteville and will have a practice round over The Blessings Golf Club par-72 course before the first of three 18-hole rounds on Friday. The tournament runs through Sunday.
