COLUMBIA, S.C. – The LSU women’s tennis team (11-8; 4-4 SEC) begin their final regular-season road weekend when they take on the South Carolina Gamecocks (12-6; 3-5 SEC) on Friday with play set to begin at 2 p.m. CT.
“South Carolina is probably a very underrated team,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. “This is going to be a tough match. We have been playing well recently so we just need to keep it going.”
LSU defeated Mississippi State 5-2 before falling 6-1 to No. 17 Ole Miss last weekend.
Yvette Vlaar is currently in fine form having won two-straight singles matches, and three of her last four. Vlaar has also won six-of-nine doubles matches alongside Olivia Howlett.
Kaitlin Burns and Ariel Morton emerged victorious in both of their doubles matches last weekend, taking them to 3-2 in their previous five.
LSU is 4-18 against South Carolina all-time, but the Lady Tigers have claimed two of the previous three matchups including a 4-0 victory last season.
