Levreault-Lopez, Zimmer Named Academic All-Americans

Baton RougeAlarii Levreault-Lopez and Kate Zimmer have been named to the 2018-2019 First Team Google Cloud Academic All-America At-Large Teams, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Friday.

“This is a tremendous honor for two great student-athletes,” said LSU head swim coach Dave Geyer. “The success of these two swimmers during their time here will only be trumped by their success in life to follow. This couldn’t be done without a first class support system for our student-athletes here at LSU.”

Levreault-Lopez and Zimmer graduated in May. Levreault-Lopez graduated with 4.045 GPA and a degree in Petroleum Engineering with a minor in Geology while Zimmer graduated with a 4.06 GPA and a degree in Nutrition and Food Sciences with a minor in Agriculture.

Since graduation, Levreault-Lopez was named to the Tiger Twelve Class of 2019, a group of 12 seniors who contribute positively to the life of the campus and surrounding community. He was named a CSCAA Honorable Mention Scholar Athlete and is currently working as a reservoir engineer for Exxon.

Zimmer was nominated for the H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post-Graduate Scholarship by LSU. Along with her success in the classroom, Zimmer was nominated for her outstanding work in the community that included volunteering at Mary Bird Perkins Center in Baton Rouge, Progression Church Nursery, and Companion Animal Alliance. She is currently working as a dietetic intern at Penrose–St. Francis Health Services in Colorado.
