Dr. William Moe Named Worley Professor of Excellence

BATON ROUGE – Dr. William Moe, Marvin Rex Clemmons Professor in the LSU College of Engineering, has been named a recipient of the 2019 Worley Professor of Excellence Award, which is presented by Worley and LSU’s Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes.

Dr. Moe was recognized during the LSU versus Auburn baseball game on Thursday, May 16.

Dr. Moe’s laboratory group in the LSU Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering conducts research on processes for treatment of industrial wastes and cleanup of contaminated soil and groundwater. Helping to develop sustainable pollution control technologies, while educating engineering students here in Louisiana is just one of the ways that Dr. Moe has made a meaningful impact at LSU.

“I am honored and humbled to receive the 2019 Worley Professor of Excellence award,” said Dr. Moe. “With exceptional students, dedicated employers, talented faculty, devoted staff, and committed alumni, it has been a privilege to work in the LSU community for the past 20 years.”

“At Worley we believe in the power of education to meet the world’s pressing challenges,” said Michael Authement, SVP, US Gulf Coast at Worley. “Investing in the leaders of tomorrow will help us all to create innovative solutions for generations to come. We congratulate William Moe, Ph.D., PE, who has been honored as the Worley Professor of Excellence at LSU, and we are delighted to recognize his achievements and dedication to excellence.”

“Dr. Moe is the perfect recipient for the professor of excellence award,” said Kenneth O. Miles, Assistant Vice Chancellor and Executive Director of the Cox Communications Center. “His credentials are in alignment and congruent with all five of Worley’s competencies for this award: customer focus, business insight, cultivates innovation, drives vision and purpose, and technical competency. We, in the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes, are very proud of Dr. Moe and his accomplishments and wish him nothing short of continuous drive, aspiring visions, and sincere purpose.”

“We appreciate Worley continuing to recognize the outstanding work done by the faculty at LSU,” said Lance Burgos, general manager of LSU Sports Properties. “Congratulations to Dr. William Moe, whose dedication to education and his students will help the LSU community grow for years to come”
