LSU Beach Remains Steady at No. 4

BATON ROUGE – For the seventh consecutive week the LSU Beach Volleyball team was ranked as the No. 4 team in the country by both the AVCA and DiG Magazine.

The Tigers fell to No. 3 Florida State in the CCSA Championship match on Sunday, but their season is not over. LSU will find out its seeding for the NCAA Championship this Sunday, April 28. For the past two seasons, LSU has been selected to go to Gulf Shores, Alabama for the championship as one of the final eight teams in the country.

In its sixth season of play, the LSU Beach program has competed at a higher level than ever before. After going 4-0 and defeating four top-20 teams in Week 1, LSU earned its highest ranking ever when it catapulted to No. 4 in the nation. The Tigers have sat at No. 4 for eight of the last nine weeks.

LSU, who is 29-6 on the season, has a 16-6 record against ranked competition. Starting against No. 10 Stetson on March 29, the Tigers won 16 consecutive matches before they fell to FSU Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers will continue to practice this week in preparation for the NCAA Championship next week, May 3-5. All of the matches in Gulf Shores will be broadcast by the ESPN family of networks with the championship match on Sunday taking place on ESPN.
