Men's Golf Enters Postseason as Unanimous Top-15 Team

Baton Rouge, La. – Coming off a second-place finish at the Shoal Creek Invitational on Tuesday, the LSU men’s golf team will enter the postseason as a unanimous top-15 team according to the two main collegiate golf polls – Golfweek and Golfstat.

Season Stats

Golfweek has the Tigers ranked 10th and Golfstat has LSU at No. 11. LSU has won two tournaments this year, the David Toms Intercollegiate in October and ‘The Prestige’ in February. The Tigers have been led by junior Philip Barbaree this season who has been playing out of his mind. The Shreveport native has had three top five finishes in his last six tournaments played including a tie for fourth at this week’s Shoal Creek Invitational with a 2-under 214. Barbaree is the only Tiger to have played in all eight tournaments this season and he’s averaging a career-best stroke average of 71.08.

The Tigers will begin postseason play on Wednesday (April 24) at the SEC Championship in St. Simons Island, Ga., at the Sea Island GC. The first three days of the SEC Championship will be stroke play and the final two days (Saturday & Sunday), will feature match play.
