Women's Tennis Hosts No. 16 Texas A&M in Home Finale

BATON ROUGE – The No. 28 LSU women’s tennis team will host its final home match of the season at 4 p.m. CT on Friday, April 5, when the Tigers take on No. 16 Texas A&M at the LSU Tennis Complex.

 

Ten minutes before the start time, LSU will host a ceremony to honor its two seniors, Jessica Golovin and Kennan Johnson. Admission to all matches at the LSU Tennis Complex is free.

Tiger Tidbits 

The Tigers are 14-8 overall and 4-6 in SEC play. Last weekend, LSU dropped both its matches, falling to No. 23 Florida by a score of 4-3 on Friday, and to No. 3 South Carolina 4-0.

 

No. 53-ranked Golovin has enjoyed a successful run in singles, winning her last four contests. Golovin is 12-4 overall in the dual season, and has six wins against ranked opponents.

 

Sophomore Eden Richardson remained ranked at No. 10 in this week’s ITA singles polls. Richardson is 20-8 overall, and has seven wins over ranked opponents this season.

 

In doubles, the pair of Richardson and Golovin remained at No. 10. The duo is 12-4 in the dual season, and has notched five wins against ranked opponents this season.

Notes on the Aggies

No. 16-ranked Texas A&M is 19-4 overall and 6-4 in SEC play. Last time out, the Aggies dropped both matches of the weekend. On Friday, they dropped their match to No. 3 South Carolina, 4-0, and finished the weekend by falling to No. 23 Florida by a score of 4-2 on Sunday.

 

The Aggies have two doubles pairs ranked. Jayci Goldsmith and Tatiana Makarova checked in this week’s polls at No. 50, while Renee McBryde and Katya Townsend are ranked No. 84. Goldsmith and Makarova lead the Aggies at the No. 1 doubles, posting a 13-6 dual season record.

 

In singles, No. 54 Townsend and No. 66 Goldsmith lead the Aggies at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Townsend is 13-5 in the dual season, and has a team-high four wins against ranked opponents.
