Parker Ready for La Manga U23 With Young Lionesses

Baton Rouge, La. Lucy Parker, a rising junior on the LSU soccer team, will play three matches with the England U21 squad at the upcoming La Manga U23 tournament in Spain this weekend and early next week.

She started training camp with the U21 Lionesses on Monday (April 1) and will be with the team until April 10th. Making the 20-player roster as one of nine defenders, Parker will see action against three U23 teams – France on Friday (April 5), Norway on Sunday (April 7), and Sweden on Tuesday (April 9).

Parker went back to England as recently as January to train with the U21 club that features a number of athletes from American universities. Parker has registered over 20 international caps on the youth level of the England Women’s National Team system with the U15, U17 and U19 squads.

In 2018, Parker led LSU to its first SEC Tournament title in program history while leading the backline to a top-five statistical season in program history. She scored three goals and helped LSU’s defense allow only 0.98 goals per match, the fifth-lowest average in school history. Parker became the 10th All-American in school history with her stellar play during her sophomore campaign. Her communication played a tremendous role in LSU registering 10 shutouts on the season; the 10 shutouts were the second most in school history and ranked 11th in the NCAA. Parker was also named to the All-SEC First Team.
