Burns, Jeansonne Have Solid Showings Over the Weekend

Baton Rouge, La. – Sam Burns (PGA Tour) and Nathan Jeansonne (PGA Mackenzie Tour Q School) both had solid showings over the weekend at their respective tournaments.

Jeansonne, currently a senior on the No. 13 LSU men’s golf squad, journeyed out to California to play at the Carlton Oaks Golf Club in Santee, Calif., for a chance to earn starts on the Mackenzie Tour once his playing days are over with LSU. The native of Shreveport fired rounds of 68-69-69-73 on Tuesday through Friday to finish the tournament at 9-under par 279 to tie for medalist honors. Jeansonne wound up dropping the playoff to Will Gordon of Vanderbilt on the 73rd hole of the tournament. With his finish, Jeansonne has earned six guaranteed starts on the Mackenzie Tour, which plays all of its tournaments in Canada. If Jeansonne plays well enough in his first six starts, he will earn more starts throughout the summer.

Burns closed with a final round 6-under 66 on Sunday at the Corales Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic. His four round total came out to a 12-under par 276 which earned him a tie for 12th. The tie for 12th earned him his fourth top-30 finish of the season on the PGA Tour. Burns has made the cut in eight of his 14 PGA Tour starts this season and has earned $506,387. His best finish of the season came in October at the Sanderson Farms Championship where he earned a tie for third place.
