Cui Finishes Sixth, Earns All-American Honor

AUSTIN, Texas– LSU senior Lizzie Cui finished in sixth place on the One-Meter springboard as the first full day of competition comes to a close at the 2019 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships in Austin, Texas.

Cui dove to a score of 300.30 to finish in fifth place during the preliminary round this afternoon to advance to the finals. In the finals the Auckland, New Zealand native dove to a score of 317.80, which is her highest one-meter score at the NCAA Championships over her four years and also earned All-American honors for the second time in her career on one-meter.

“Lizzie was rock solid today in a very elite women’s one-meter field,” said LSU head diving coach Doug Shaffer. “She matched her place finish of two years ago but this was much tougher.  I am very proud of the way she fought today. I also thought Aimee (Wilson) was very good in the prelims but missed a little in the fifth round.  At this level there is no room for error.  I’m excited as we look ahead to tomorrow’s three-meter contest.”
