No. 15 Women's Tennis Start Road Swing at No. 2 Georgia

Athens, Ga – The No. 15-ranked LSU women’s tennis team will travel to Athens to take on No. 2 Georgia on at 3 p.m. CT on Friday, March 8, at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

“Tomorrow’s match with Georgia is just another tough match in the SEC,” co-head coach Julia Sell said. “We play a tough schedule to keep progressing and elevating ourselves and this weekend is no different. We are excited to be back on the road and continue our strong start to our season. As long as we stay committed and united, great things will happen.”

Tiger Tidbits 

The Tigers are 12-2 overall and 2-0 in SEC play after sweeping Alabama, 4-0, on Friday and defeating Auburn, 4-1, on Sunday. No. 15-ranked sophomore Eden Richardson leads the Tigers at the No. 1 singles and is on a five match winning streak.


In doubles play, the Purple and Gold pair of Richardson and senior Jessica Golovin moved up to No. 3 in the latest ITA/Oracle Collegiate Tennis rankings. Richardson and Golovin are 9-1 on the season and have won their last seven matches. The duo of sophomore Taylor Bridges and junior Paris Corley also have nine wins this season and are on a five match winning streak.


Notes on Georgia

The No. 2-ranked Bulldogs are 9-0 on the season and opened up SEC play by sweeping No. 33 Tennessee, 4-0, in Knoxville.


Georgia has five singles players ranked in the top-100 and are led by the number one-ranked player in the country, Katarina Jokic. Jokic has a 7-1 record at the No. 1 singles in 2019, and has four wins over top-25 opponents.


In doubles play, No. 66-ranked duo Jokic and Meg Kowalski lead the Bulldogs with four wins.
