Gagne Selected for 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup

Baton Rouge, La. – Luis Gagne, a senior on the LSU men’s golf team, has been selected to represent the International team at the 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup that will take place at The Alotian Club in Roland, Arkansas June 7-9. The announcement was made Wednesday night on the Golf Channel.

Gagne is one of five returning players to the International team after he played at the 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup in France. Gagne ran his record in the Ryder Cup-style competition a year ago to 3-1 after he won two matches with Ainhoa Olarra and then a solo match over Stephen Franken. Gagne is averaging a team-best 70.93 strokes per round this season for the No. 12 LSU men’s golf team. He was named the SEC Men’s Golfer of the Week on Wednesday for his tie for seventh place at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate. Gagne now ranks tied for sixth on the all-time list at LSU for most top-10 finishes in a career with 18.

The Arnold Palmer Cup pits the top collegiate golfers versus their counterparts from around the world. Twelve golfers will represent the United States and 12 golfers will represent the International squad. The tournament will feature three rounds of play, each with a different format of mixed four ball, mixed foursomes, and singles to determine the winning team. The tournament is one of the most prestigious events for collegiate golfers and a total of 53 former Arnold Cup players have claimed 195 victories on the PGA or European Tours.
