Tennis Duo Makes History in Latest ITA Rankings

BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team placed No. 15 in the latest ITA/Oracle Collegiate Tennis poll released on Tuesday.

LSU is 12-2 overall this season after sweeping Alabama, 4-0, on Friday, and defeating Auburn on Sunday by a score of 4-1.

In the ITA/Oracle Collegiate Tennis Rankings for doubles, the reigning NCAA doubles champion pair of senior Jessica Golovin and sophomore Eden Richardson moved up to the No. 3 spot. This is the highest doubles ranking in school history, and highest since 2000, when the duo of Bruna Colosio and Ana Paula Mores finished the season at No. 4.

Golovin and Richardson have a 9-1 record on the No. 1 doubles, and are currently on a seven-match win streak.

In singles, Richardson checked in at the No. 15 spot with a 7-3 record at the No. 1 singles this season.

The Tigers will head on the road for its first SEC road swing of the year. LSU will square off against Georgia on Friday, March 8 at 3 p.m. CT and face Tennessee on Sunday, March 10 at 11 a.m. CT.
