No. 12 Tigers Sweep Alabama to Open SEC Play

BATON ROUGE – The No. 12-ranked LSU women’s tennis team opened conference play with a 4-0 victory against Alabama on Friday, March 1, at the LSU Tennis Complex.

Selling Points

“It was a great start to our SEC season with a solid win over a good Alabama team,” LSU co-head coach Julia Sell said. “Now it’s time to rest and recover for our next match on Sunday.”

Doubles Point

The Tigers took the doubles point against the Crimson Tide with two wins from the No. 1 and No. 3 pairs.

The No. 11-ranked duo of sophomore Eden Richardson and senior Jessica Golovin were first off of the court after defeating the pair of Andie Daniell and Kennan Johnson, 6-2.

The No. 57-ranked pair of junior Paris Corley and sophomore Taylor Bridges clinched the doubles point for the Tigers, beating Ann Selim and Kim Gintrand, 6-4.

Singles Results

Bridges gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead after beating Jacqueline Pelletier 6-0, 6-4, at No.3 singles.

No. 15 Richardson extended LSU’s lead to 3-0 following a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the No. 1 singles.

Golovin clinched the match for the Tigers with a 6-3, 6-4 straight set win at the No. 2 singles.

The No. 12 Tigers will look to extend their five-match winning streak when they face the Auburn Tigers on Sunday, March 3, at Noon CT at the LSU Tennis Complex
