Women's Tennis Opens SEC Play Against Alabama

BATON ROUGE – The No. 12-ranked LSU women’s tennis team will face Alabama in its first SEC match on Friday, March 1 at 4 p.m. CT at the LSU Tennis Complex. 

Friday is student point night with each fan receiving a free LSU tennis shirt. Admission to all matches in the LSU Tennis Complex is free. Fans can follow the match at www.LSUstats.com and on Twitter @LSUWTen. The matches will also be streamed online at LSUsports.net. 

The Matchup

LSU will face the Crimson Tide for the 47th time in history. LSU has a 31-15 overall record against Alabama, with a three-year win streak over the Crimson Tide. 

Tiger Tidbits 

LSU advanced to the No. 12 spot in the latest ITA rankings and remains in the No. 15 spot in the USTA/Tennis Channel rankings. 

The Purple and Gold is 9-2 overall and remain 5-0 at home after defeating No. 19 Old Dominion 6-1, last Friday. LSU boast players in ITA rankings with sophomore Eden Richardson at No. 15 in singles. 

Two duos for the Tigers are ranked in the Top 60 for doubles, with Richardson and senior Jessica Golovin at No. 11, and sophomore Taylor Bridges and junior Paris Corley at No. 57. 

The Tigers will face No. 37 Auburn on Sunday, March 3 at noon CT at the LSU Tennis Complex. 

Notes on the Crimson Tide 

Alabama is 10-3 overall in the 2019 season and is 1-2 on the road. 

The Crimson Tide has one player in singles rankings, Andie Daniell at No. 62.
