Gymnastics Travels to Take on No. 21 Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Following a team-high score of 197.650 on Sunday, the fifth-ranked LSU gymnastics team wraps up its stretch of three meets in eight days against No. 21 Arkansas at 7:30 p.m. CT Friday.

The Tigers (7-3, 2-3 SEC) will take on the Razorback (1-7) in their final road SEC meet of the season at Barnhill Arena. The squad is coming off of two wins last weekend, including wins over four top-30 teams.

The meet will be televised on SEC Network Friday with first vault set for 7:35 p.m. CT. John Roethlisberger and Alicia Sacramone-Quinn will have the call for the Network.

Finnegan Named SEC Gymnast of the Week
Senior Sarah Finnegan, LSU’s nominee for the AAI Award, was named the SEC Gymnast of the Week for the fourth time in 2019 after winning eight titles over the weekend. Finnegan swept the all-around, bars and floor titles and also earned vault and beam wins.

The Lee’s Summit, Missouri, native owns 71 career titles for sixth in school history. Over the weekend, Finnegan became the ninth gymnast in school history to score a 9.95 or higher on all four events. She is the only gymnast in the league and one of two in the country to score a 9.95 or higher on all four events in 2019.

Tigers in the National Rankings
LSU is fifth in the national rankings for the sixth-straight week this season. The Tigers own an average score of 197.000. In addition to the team rankings, LSU is also foruth on beam, fifth on vault and sixth on bars and floor.

This week marked the final time average score will be used for rankings. On Monday, the first edition of the Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) will be released. The RQS is ascertained by taking a team’s top six scores – three of which must be from road/neutral meets – dropping the high score and averaging the remaining five scores.

Series History
LSU is 34-5-1 overall against Arkansas. The Tigers have a record of 6-1-1 in Fayetteville and are on a 15-meet win streak against the Razorbacks. The streak dates back to the 2012 season. In the last meet at Arkansas, LSU posted its highest score ever on the road against the Razorbacks and the second-highest team score at an SEC meet in school history of 197.700.
