BATON ROUGE – Following a score of 197.250 and season-high score of 197.650 over weekend, the LSU gymnastics team improved its season average to 197.000 and remained at fifth in the RoadtoNationals.com rankings.
The Tigers have now been ranked in the top-five for 35-straight weeks. The Tigers are 7-3 overall and 2-3 against league competition.
This marks the final week of the season that national rankings are based on a team’s overall season average. Beginning next Monday rankings will be based on a team’s regional qualifying score (RQS).
In addition to the team rankings, LSU is also fourth on beam, fifth on vault and sixth on bars and floor.
Senior Sarah Finnegan, this week’s SEC Gymnast of the Week, is sixth in the nation in the all-around. Finnegan also ranks sixth on bars and floor, ninth on beam and 16th on vault.
The fifth-ranked Tigers and Finnegan will continue wrap up a stretch of three meets in eight days at 7:30 p.m. CT Friday on the SEC Network against No. 21 Arkansas.
