NEW ORLEANS – A decent start in windy conditions is how LSU women’s golf head coach Garrett Runion described his team’s start to the 2019 Spring season. LSU is in 11th place after Round One of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate at 11-over with senior Kathleen Gallagher leading the squad with a 1-over 73.
“Kathleen showed her senior experience again by posting another solid round in tough conditions,” said Runion. “I was also really proud of freshman Presley Baggett for grinding out a good round in her first appearance at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate.”
Baggett, along with junior Monica Dibildox, each posted a 3-over 75. Alden Wallace provided the fourth counter with a 4-over 76.
“Monica and Alden played well most of the day and just let a few shots slip away at the end of the round that kept them from posting a really good round,” continued Runion.
“With the leaderboard so bunched up we are looking forward to teeing off early tomorrow and posting a good team score to improve our position.”
LSU will be paired up with Auburn and Washington for Round 2 on Monday. The Tigers will tee off at 9 a.m. from Hole No. 10 at the English Turn Golf & Country Club. Live scoring will be available at GolfStat.com.
