LSU Sweeps SEC Honors in Men's Hoops

BATON ROUGE – LSU men’s basketball players Tremont Waters and Naz Reid swept the weekly honors for the Southeastern Conference announced on Monday.

The honors come off two wins by the Tigers that ran their record to 19-4 and 9-1 in the SEC – 92-88 at Mississippi State in overtime on Wednesday and an 83-78 win over Auburn on Saturday.

Waters, a sophomore point guard from New Haven, Connecticut, is the SEC Player of the Week, while freshman forward Naz Reid of Asbury Park, New Jersey, is the Freshman of the Week. 

LSU rallied from 10 down in the second half to win at Mississippi State and from 16 down in the first half to beat Auburn in Baton Rouge.

Waters averaged 22.5 points, 7.5 assists, five steals and 3.5 rebounds in wins at Mississippi State and against Auburn. He had 26 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the field to go with five assists and five steals at Mississippi State. Waters had his fourth double-double of the season with 19 points, 10 assists and five steals against Auburn. It was his fifth double figure assist game of the season.

Reid averaged 21 points and 10 rebounds at Mississippi State and against Auburn. Reid equaled his career high with 29 points to go with nine rebounds against the Bulldogs. He scored seven of LSU’s nine points in the overtime period against MSU. He had 13 points and 11 rebounds against Auburn for his second double-double in conference play.
