Women's Tennis Continues Indoor Nationals vs. Northwestern

SEATTLE – The No. 18-ranked LSU women’s tennis team takes on No. 12 Northwestern in the second round of play at of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships at 9 p.m. CT Sunday, February 10 at the Seattle Tennis Club.

Tiger Tidbits 

Competing among the most talented programs in the country, LSU dropped their match 4-0 against No. 1-ranked Stanford in the round of 16. LSU has an impressive 6-1 record and has swept four teams out the seven that they have faced during the early season run. 

The Tigers boast players in ITA rankings with sophomore Eden Richardson at No. 19 in singles and Richardson and senior Jessica Golovin at No. 6 in doubles. 

LSU faced Northwestern at home this past fall in the Tiger Fall Classic. Sophomore Luba Vasilyuk and freshman Marina Hermanny de Figueiredo defeated two of the Wildcat doubles pairs, Carol Finke and Vaneessa Streng, and Inci Ogut and Rheeya Doshi, 7-5, respectively. 

Notes on the Wildcats 

The No. 12-ranked Northwestern team lost to No. 6 Texas in the round of 16, 4-0. 

Northwestern holds two singles rankings with Clarrisa Hand at No. 59 and Julie Byrne at No. 72. 

The Wildcats also have two top-ranked doubles pairs at No. 39 and 59 with Caroline Pozo and Carol Finke, and Lee Or and Hand, respectively.
