Sanders Leads LSU at Tavistock Collegiate Invitational
Windermere, Fla. – The No. 25 LSU men’s golf team completed round one of the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational in 11th place with a score of 4-over par 292 on Sunday at the Isleworth Golf & Country Club.
Michael Sanders led the way for the Tigers during the first day of action with a score of 69 (-3). Sanders rolled in three birdies, including two in a row on 13 and 14, to go along with 15 pars to finish with a clean scorecard. Sanders currently sits tied for 7th on the individual leaderboard, five back of the leader (Will Gordon/Vanderbilt).
Garrett Barber shot a 1-over par 73 that included three birdies to go along with 11 pars and four bogeys; the Florida native sits in a tie for 37th after 18 holes. Philip Barbaree and Trey Winstead both entered the clubhouse with 3-over par 75s to currently place in a tie for 49th; Barbaree and Sanders both have the most pars in the tournament with 15.
Luis Gagne rounded out play on day one with a 5-over par 77 (tied 60th). The Tigers will tee off at 7:25 a.m. CT on Monday alongside West Virginia and Augusta State. Gagne will go off first and he will be followed by Barbaree (7:35 a.m.), Winstead (7:45 a.m.), Barber (7:55 a.m.) and Sanders (8:05 a.m.).
