Tennis Wraps Up Main Draw Competition at ITA All-American

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – The defending national champion doubles team of Jessica Golovin and Eden Richardson dominated competition in the main draw of the ITA All-American tournament on Thursday, but it was not enough for them to secure the win on Friday.

In the quarterfinals, No. 17 Caroline Lampl and Kimberly Yee of Stanford took the win against Golovin and Richardson, 8-5.

“We are really happy for all of our players who had the opportunity to participate in this prestigious event. You have the best players in the country here, so to get this level of competition this early in the year is fantastic,” said co-head coach Julia Sell. “I like where our team is at right now, but I am also excited to get home and keep improving.”

Richardson went on to compete in the round of 16 for doubles play. The sophomore Tiger kept it close in both sets in a hard fought match against No. 2 Makenna Jones of North Carolina, losing 7-6(7), 7-5.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action Oct. 13 for the ITA Southern Regional Tournament in Oxford, Mississippi.
