Men's Tennis Continues at Cajun Classic

BATON ROUGE – LSU men’s tennis duo Shane Monroe and Malik Bhatnagar earned its first doubles win on Day 2 of the John Breaux Cajun Classic Saturday evening.

“It was a very up and down day for us,” co-head coach Andy Brandi said. “Shane played very well in the singles, and the first doubles match was very good against Oklahoma State.”

Monroe and Bhatnagar defeated Oklahoma State’s Mathieu Scaglia and Maxim Tybar, 8-6, to open the day before falling 8-3 to Rice’s Sumit Saker and Eric Rutledge.

No. 42 Monroe also notched his first win of the season with a 6-3, 6-2 win against UL-Lafayette’s Jan Galka.

Bhatnagar fell to Ivan Yatsuk of South Florida with a 6-1, 6-4 loss.
