New Providence, Bahamas — The LSU women’s tennis team wrapped competition at the USTA College Invitational at Albany on Sunday by competing in two rounds of singles play. The Lady Tigers went 5-2 in singles to end the tournament.
Over the course the tournament, the women totaled a record of 26-8. They went 11-1 in doubles play, and 15-7 in singles.
The women went 3-0 on the day against South Florida. Freshman Marina Figueiredo picked up another singles win in straight sets against Alexandria Mjos 6-4, 6-2. Figueiredo went undefeated in singles play to start the fall season along with senior Kennan Johnson and junior Paris Corley.
Johnson took the win over Evelyne Tiron of South Florida 6-2, 6-4. Corley faced off against South Florida’s Selin Yaylali and won 6-4, 6-1.
Sophomore transfer Taylor Bridges picked up her first LSU singles win over the weekend against her former team of NC State in a match against Liz Norman 6-2, 6-3.
The Lady Tigers will be back in action for more fall competition starting Sept. 29 for the ITA All-American Championships.
