Women's XC Wins LSU Invitational

Baton Rouge, La.- The LSU women’s cross country team won the 2018 LSU Invitational with a team score of 25. This is the Lady Tigers’ second team win of the season.

“I thought the women ran well and tough today in the meet,” said LSU head coach Mark Rinker. “There are a lot of positives for this team and a lot more to improve on as the year goes on.”

Freshman Julia Palin led the Lady Tigers in the 3-mile run with a time of 18:13.29 and held second place throughout the course of the race. Following Palin was Alicia Stamey (18:27.84, 5th place) and Hannah Bourque (18:33.36, 6th place). Monica Guillot (8th place) and Sara Funderburk (10th place) contributed to the Lady Tigers winning score by running times of 18:45.93 and 18:50.3. LSU finish 24 points ahead of second-place Southeastern for the title.

Junior Harrison Martingayle led the pack for the Tigers by earning a fifth-place finish with a time of 20:45.70. Freshman Adam Wise, the eighth-place finisher, ran a time of 20:57.60. The Tigers earned a fourth place spot overall in the LSU Invitational.
