BATON ROUGE – LSU men’s tennis senior Shane Monroe is listed as the No. 42 singles player in the nation according to the preseason Oracle/ITA Division I Men’s Rankings, the ITA announced Tuesday.
Monroe enters his second year of competition with the Tigers, and last season, the Ventnor, New Jersey, native compiled a 10-13 singles record with eight of those wins on court one. He finished his junior campaign ranked No. 78 after defeating two ranked opponents, including a three-set thriller against South Carolina’s No. 24 Gabriel Friedrich and a straight-set win against Alabama’s No. 92 Mazen Osama.
Monroe garnered All-SEC Second Team honors and was named Louisiana Newcomer of the Year after sitting out the 2017 season due to NCAA transfer rules. He was also named to the SEC Community Service Team for his excellence outside of the classroom and off of the court during the 2017-18 campaign.
