Soccer Announces Full 2018 Schedule
Baton Rouge, La. – The LSU soccer team announced its full 2018 schedule on Thursday. The fall schedule includes nine home matches at LSU Soccer Stadium, and matches against nine teams that appeared in the 2017 NCAA Tournament.
Head coach Brian Lee is entering his 14th season at the helm of the LSU soccer program. Lee owns an all-time career record of 130-101-41 and will look to lead the Tigers back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015. The Purple and Gold returns three of its top four point scorers – Alex Thomas, Tinaya Alexander and Lucy Parker – from 2017 along with veteran goalkeeper Caroline Brockmeier.
After playing exhibition matches against Rice in Houston on Aug. 10 and UL-Lafayette in Baton Rouge on Aug. 13, the Tigers will open up their 2018 season with four matches in the month of August. The home opener will take place on Aug. 19 at LSU Soccer Stadium against Villanova at 1 p.m. CT. The month of September will wrap up non-conference play for the Tigers with home matches against Stetson (Sept. 6) and Samford (Sept. 9), and road trips to Lamar (Sept. 4) and Cincinnati (Sept. 16). SEC play begins on Sept. 14 for LSU with an away match in College Station to take on the Texas A&M Aggies. Two of the final three conference matchups at the end of September will be held in Baton Rouge as the Tigers host Auburn on Sept. 20 and Alabama on Sept. 27. Sandwiched in between the two home matches will be a road trip to Gainesville, Fla., for a Sunday afternoon matchup against the Gators on Sept. 23.
LSU will close out its 10-match SEC schedule with six contests in the month of October. An away match at Arkansas awaits the Tigers on Oct. 4 in Fayetteville, Ark., before the Tigers return to the friendly confines of the LSU Soccer Stadium for matches against Missouri (Oct. 7) and Ole Miss (Oct. 11). The homestretch of the season will see LSU play three matches in an eight-day span; the Tigers will take on Tennessee on Oct. 18 in Knoxville, Tenn., before returning home to play host to South Carolina on Oct. 21 in a match that will recognize LSU’s three seniors. The regular season will close out with a road trip to Starkville, Miss., for a Thursday evening matchup against the Bulldogs on Oct. 25.
