Women's Tennis Named ITA All-Academic Team

BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team was named one of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s All-Academic Teams for the 2017-18 season, the ITA announced Tuesday.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above. All varsity letter winners must factor into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.

In addition to earning All-Academic Team honors, the Tigers also placed three individuals on the ITA Scholar-Athlete list. Senior captain Ryann Foster and freshmen Luba Vasilyuk and Ashton Rabalais achieved ITA Scholar-Athlete status by earning at least a 3.50 GPA in their studies for the current academic year.

The ITA All-Academic awards are the latest in a series of recognitions that have displayed the Tigers’ excellence in the classroom this season. Rabalais and fellow freshman Eden Richardson also made the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll earlier in July while Foster and junior Kennan Johnson were named to the 2018 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll.
