Lidback Competes In Inaugural U.S. Senior Women's Open

BATON ROUGE – Former LSU women’s golf great Jenny Lidback will be competing at the first ever U.S. Senior Women’s Open at the Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois, this week.

“It’s an amazing honor, to say the least,” Lidback said. “Words can’t describe what an honor it is to be exempted into the USGA Senior Women’s Open, especially since it’s the inaugural one.

“To be exempted in any USGA event is already amazing, and to be exempted into the very first one, and be part of this historical week, is truly an amazing honor.”

Lidback went on to reference LSU legend David Toms’ recent win at the men’s U.S. Senior Open. Lidback doesn’t necessarily expect a win like Toms’ recent victory, but she wants to soak in the moment and represent LSU proudly.

Lidback had one of the most incredible seasons in LSU women’s golf history in 1985-86. During her senior season, she won seven individual titles and was a part of five team titles on her way to being named the national Player of the Year.

Lidback won a professional major on the LPGA tour in 1995, when she won the duMaurier Classic. She spent 13 years on the LPGA tour and has played on The Legends Tour. Lidback was a part of the ISPS Handa Cup as a member of Team World from 2008-15.

A member of the LSU Athletics Hall of Fame, Lidback is set to tee off in the First Round today at 1:05 p.m. Fans can follow the Live Scoring at USGA.org and highlights of the Third and Fourth Rounds on FS1 from 3-5:00 p.m. July 14 and 15.
