Baton Rouge, La.Luis Gagne and Philip Barbaree were named to the 2018 PING Southeast All-Region squad on Saturday, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced.

Gagne had a career year on the links for the Tigers averaging a career-best 71.16 strokes per round. The Jack Nicklaus Award semifinalist won one tournament, the 2017 David Toms Intercollegiate, with a two-round total of 4-under par 140 (70-70). In addition to taking medalist honors at the David Toms Intercollegiate, Gagne registered four more top-10 finishes on the season including a streak of three straight to close out the campaign. The junior from Orlando used a 3-under par 207 (66-70-71) at the SEC Championship to help lead LSU to the stroke play title and earn his best career finish at the SEC tournament (tied third). He followed that up with a strong showing at the NCAA Stockton Regional with a tie for ninth place at 5-under par 211 (71-68-72).

In his first full year of collegiate play, Barbaree matched Gagne for the team lead with five top-10 finishes. The sophomore from Shreveport, La., lowered his stroke average from 73.68 during the 2017 spring to 72.19 this season. Barbaree was one of the hottest players in the fall when he began the first half of the season with a tie for fifth place (Ka’anapali Collegiate Classic) and two eighth-place showings (Maui Jim Intercollegiate and David Toms Intercollegiate). The best finish of his season came at the General Hackler Championship when he carded a 4-under par 212 (68-71-73). Barbaree was instrumental in helping LSU claim the SEC stroke play title at the conference tournament with a tie for 10th place with an even par 210.
