Golovin, Richardson Tie Program Postseason Record
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The LSU women’s tennis team’s 29th-ranked duo of Jessica Golovin and Eden Richardson tied the record for deepest postseason run in program history with a straight-set victory over the nation’s No. 12 doubles team Saturday at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.
Golovin and Richardson defeated the 12th-ranked Arizona State pairing of Lauryn Jean-Baptiste and Ilze Hattingh, 6-3, 6-4, to advance to the NCAA Doubles Championships semifinals. This marks LSU’s second consecutive appearance in the doubles semifinals after Joana Valle Costa and Ryann Foster also advanced to the final four last season.
Golovin and Richardson, who both recently earned All-American status, improved to 17-8 in doubles competition this season and picked up their fifth top-15 win of the year.
The Tiger duo will face the No. 33 pairing of Sara Daavettila and Alle Sanford of North Carolina in Sunday’s semifinal match.
