De Antonio At Even In NCAA First Round
BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU women’s golfer Claudia De Antonio shot even par 72 in the First Round of the 2018 NCAA Tallahassee Regional to finish the day in a nine-way tie for 24th place. She is one of six individuals invited to the regional tournament and is currently second in that group.
After getting behind at 2-over thru the first six holes, the senior from Caracas, Venezuela, made back-to-back birdies on the par 3 Hole No. 8 and par 5 Hole No. 9 to finish at even on the front nine. De Antonio hit a birdie on Hole No. 10, a 498-yard par 5 to start the back nine and birdied on the par 4 12th hole to drop her score to 2-under. She held on over the final six holes to finish the back nine at even par.
De Antonio is battling for a chance to advance to the NCAA Championship at Karsten Creek Golf Club on May 18-23 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She will need to be one of the top three finishers not on one of the six advancing teams out of the Tallahassee Regional to earn a slot in Stillwater.
Her Second Round tee time is set for 7:50 a.m. CT off of Hole No. 1 at the Don Veller Seminole Golf Course. Washington leads the team standings at 15-under, while Husky junior Wenyung Keh tops the individual leader board at 9-under.
