Monroe Named to SEC Community Service Team

BIRMINGHAM – LSU men’s tennis junior Shane Monroe has been named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team for his efforts in the Baton Rouge area, the league announced Tuesday.

Monroe, the No. 1 singles player for the Tigers, leads the charge in community service hours for the men’s tennis team. He has compiled more than 35 hours of service across campus and in the surrounding Baton Rouge community during the 2017-18 year.

The Ventnor City, New Jersey, native has compiled at least 32 of his hours at the Knock Knock Children’s Museum, a local children’s museum intended to provide high-quality learning experiences for children located in under-resourced environments. The museum is also geared to expand knowledge in the STEM subjects while increasing early literacy skills through their specialized interactive exhibits.

On campus, the junior tennis player has participated in LSU’s Halloween BOOzar and Thanksgiving with the Tigers.
