Softball Takes on Northwestern St. in Midweek Contest

BATON ROUGE – The 14th-ranked LSU softball team returns home for a five-game home stand, starting with a midweek contest against Northwestern State Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT.

The game will stream online through SEC Network+ and the WatchESPN app with Lyn Rollins and Yvette Girouard on the call. Live stats will also be available at LSUStats.com.

Series Records
The Tigers lead the all-time series over Northwestern St., 27-0. The last time to two teams squared off was last season with the Tigers coming out on top with a 5-2 victory.

About the Tigers
LSU goes into the midweek with a 32-10 overall record. The Tigers are coming off three losses to No. 10/13 Tennessee. After hitting .455 on the weekend, Aliyah Andrews now leads the offense with a .349 average. Emily Griggs led the team over the weekend with a .600 average at the plate and a .583 on-base percentage. The pitching staff has a 1.27 ERA which ranks fourth in the SEC and ninth among the nation. Allie Walljasper leads the staff with a 0.94 ERA. Carley Hoover has struck out 159 batters and is holding her opponents to a team-low .167 opponent batting average.

About the Lady Demons
Northwestern State comes into the matchup with a 24-15 overall record. The Southland Conference member is 11-7 in league play. Cayla Jones leads the team at the plate with a .430 average. She owns a team-leading eight home runs. In the circle, Micaela Bouvie is 12-7 on the year and has a 2.13 ERA. In 111.2 innings of work, she has tallied 88 strikeouts.

What’s On Deck
Following the midweek contest with Northwestern State, the Tigers will return to SEC action, playing host to Texas A&M Friday through Sunday.
