Beach Volleyball Riding 12-Match Win-Streak Into Finale

BATON ROUGE – The eighth-ranked LSU beach volleyball team will close out its regular season this weekend when it plays host to No. 7 Florida State, No. 11 Georgia State, TCU, Houston Baptist, New Orleans and Jacksonville State at the Battle on the Bayou, April 14-15, at Mango’s Beach Club. 

Fans are encouraged to come out on Saturday when free bucket hats will be available to the first 200 in attendance. Sunday will also be the Senior Tribute.

“This is a big weekend for us,” head coach Russell Brock said. “We have some really challenging opponents, these are our last home matches at Mango’s and we get to honor our seniors.”

LSU is riding a 12-match win-streak which started at its first home tournament this season three weeks ago. Dating back to last season, the Tigers have won 17 consecutive matches at home. This will mark the final weekend of home matches at Mango’s before LSU moves to a new on-campus facility in September.

As a reminder, LSU’s clear bag policy will be in effect this weekend for the Battle on the Bayou.

No. 8 LSU (20-9) will square off with TCU on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT before taking on No. 11 Georgia State (20-8) at 6 p.m. On Sunday, the Tigers will face No. 7 FSU (19-6) at 10 a.m. prior to its regular season finale against Houston Baptist at 2 p.m.

Following the conclusion of the of the match against Houston Baptist on Sunday, LSU will host its senior tribute. The Tigers will honor nine seniors and graduate players including manager Avery Thibodeaux, Lilly Kessler, Haleigh Nelson, Emily Hardesty, Gina Tillis, Cheyenne Wood, Emmy Allen, Mandi Orellana and Riley Young.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to play LSU beach volleyball in front of our home fans one more time this season,” Brock said.

6 p.m. – No. 8 LSU vs. No. 11 GSU
