Men's Golf Wraps up Day 1 at Aggie Invitational

BRYAN, Texas – The LSU men’s golf team wrapped up its first two rounds at the Aggie Invitational on Saturday at the Traditions Golf Club before play was suspended due to darkness. Freshman Trey Winstead‘s strong play currently has the Tigers sitting in fifth place.

Winstead began Saturday morning with a round of even par 72. He followed up his morning round carding a 1-over 73, which included three birdies in his last nine holes. Winstead currently sits in a tie for fifth place in the individual standings.

Alabama leads the stacked field by eight strokes, sitting at +7 through 32 holes. Kent State is in second place, followed by Oklahoma State who is nine strokes off the lead. Texas A&M currently sits in fourth at 17-over par through 35 holes. LSU rounded out the Top 5 with a two-round total of 19-over par 595 (300-295).

Junior Nathan Jeansonne finished his day at 5-over 149, while Sophomore Philip Barbaree sits at 6 over 150 for the tournament. Junior Luis Gagne closed the day out 8-over par and freshman Jacob Bergeron has a two-round total of 9-over par.

Pairings for round three will be determined for the Tigers after the second round concludes Sunday morning; nine teams still have to finish up the second round. Follow live round action at Golfstat.com.
