Dr. Hassan Receives Jacobs Professor of Excellence Award
BATON ROUGE – Dr. Marwa Hassan, the Director of the regional university transportation center Tran-SET as well as the CETF Distinguished Professor and Graduate Coordinator in the Department of Construction Management in the College of Engineering at LSU, has been named a recipient of the 2018 Jacobs Professor of Excellence Award, which is presented by LSU’s Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes.
Dr. Hassan was recognized during the LSU-Tennessee Women’s Basketball game on Sunday, Jan. 29.
“We are truly enthusiastic and honored to recognize Dr. Hassan as a Jacobs Professor of Excellence Award recipient,” said Kenneth O. Miles, Assistant Vice Chancellor and Executive Director of the Cox Communications Center. “Dr. Hassan is a difference maker and a steward of excellence.”
“Our nation’s future depends on all of us collaborating across disciplines and agencies to bring cutting edge research to implementation,” said Dr. Hassan. “Integrating academia, government and the private sector goals through communication will enable us to maximize the use of resources and remain the leader of the free world.”
In over 20 years of experience, 11 years of service at LSU, Dr. Hassan has established a unique multi-disciplinary research program which has exceeded $20.0 million in funding along with being published in 65 refereed journal publications and 70 refereed conference proceedings. Dr. Hassan introduced many cutting edge technologies to the civil and construction profession including leading the design and construction of the first photocatalytic pavement in the US.
