Tigers Set Seven PR's at Last Chance Meet

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – All seven LSU swimmers who competed today at the Texas A&M Last Chance Meet set new personal records in their respective events.

Every personal record was set in the preliminaries this morning.

“We had a great first day of racing,” said associate head coach Jeana Kempe. “We started the day off with seven personal-best times and improved on our times from SEC’s last week. We are looking forward to building off today as these athletes really get into their best events.”

The women had four personal-best times. Junior Megan Loop and freshman Alyssa Helak swam 500 freestyle times of 4:54.62 and 4:57.99, respectively, and finished the day eighth and eleventh overall.

Sophomore Lauren McInstosh and freshman Miranda Nichols set their personal-bests in the 50 free. McIntosh swam a 23.31 and finished fifth overall, while Nichols touched the wall at 23.73 seconds and finished the day seventh overall.

For the men, freshman and Baton Rouge native Braden Nyboer shattered his previous personal-best in the 500 free by over six seconds, finishing with a time of 4:35.55.

In the men’s 50 free, freshman Jeffrey Snoddy was joined by junior Harrison Jones, who broke the school record in the 200 butterfly just last weekend. Snoddy swam a 21.10, while Jones came in at 22.40 seconds.

Competition continues tomorrow with preliminaries starting at 10 a.m.
