Men's Golf Moves to No. 9 in Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll

BATON ROUGE – The LSU men’s golf team moved up one spot to No. 9 in the latest Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll, which was released on Friday.

Oklahoma State remained No. 1 in the poll. LSU is one of six Southeastern Conference teams in the Top 10 as they are joined by No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 4 Vanderbilt, No. 7 Florida, and No. 10 Auburn. Other SEC teams in the poll include No. 19 Arkansas, No. 20 Kentucky, and No. 25 Tennessee.

LSU opened it spring season two weeks ago with a fourth place showing at the Sea Best Invitational in Jacksonville, Florida.

LSU All-American junior Luis Gagne‘s team leading 71.24 scoring average has played a big part in helping the Tigers to their Top 10 ranking.

Fellow junior Nathan Jeansonne‘s top-5 showing at the See Best Invitational contributed as well. Sophomore Philip Barbaree along with freshmen Trey Winstead and Jacob Bergeron have been big contributors with a combined eight top-10’s between the three players.

The Tigers return to action Monday, Feb. 19 in the 18th annual Prestige at PGA West, an event that they have won each of the past two seasons.
