Women's Tennis Returns to Action Against Nicholls
BATON ROUGE – The No. 23 LSU women’s tennis team will host the Nicholls State Colonels as part of the Tigers’ current eight-match home stand Saturday at the LSU Tennis Complex at noon.
LSU (5-1) and Nicholls State (3-0) have faced off 12 times in program history, with the Tigers winning all 12 contests. The two teams faced each other most recently in 2016 with LSU taking a 6-1 victory.
The Tigers are coming off of a sweep of Alcorn St. in their Jan. 31 doubleheader and have their sights set on a Nicholls State squad that is undefeated so far this season.
Freshman Eden Richardson, ranked No. 114 in the country, leads the team in total wins with 15, followed by juniors Kennan Johnson and No. 69 Jessica Golovin with 12 wins each. Golovin currently leads the team with six dual singles wins and is in the midst of an eight-match unbeaten streak dating back to the fall.
Nicholls State is coached by Greg Harkins in his second season with the team. The Colonels have a pair of wins against Mississippi Valley State and a win over Loyola-New Orleans.
