No. 4 Gym Begins Full Weekend at GymQuarters Invite

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The fourth-ranked LSU gymnastics team will begin its full weekend of competition in Missouri at the GymQuarters Mardi Gras Invitational at 6:30 p.m. Friday inside St. Charles Family Arena.

The Tigers will face off against four ranked teams in No. 8 Arkansas, No. 20 Missouri and No. 21 George Washington. The squad will return home to face Texas Woman’s at 2:30 p.m. Sunday inside the Maravich Center.

This will mark the second time the Tigers have competed on podium this season. will stream the meet live but fans must have a subscription that begins at $30 to watch. Fans are encouraged to follow LSU Gymnastics on Twitter and Facebook to watch routines and stay up to date on scores from the meet.

The quad meet will work similar to a home meet for the Tigers. The squad will begin on vault, followed by bars and beam, and then close the night on floor.

D-D Breaux Previews the Meet

“We are excited about this meet and the ability to compete on podium again,” head coach D-D Breaux said. “This is another chance to put together a consistent meet that we have been searching for. With two meets in one weekend, our staff is going to be strategic about who will compete both days.

Last Time Out

LSU traveled to No. 24 Missouri and won its fifth Southeastern Conference meet of the season with a score of 197.150. The Tigers swept all five titles at the meet.

Senior Myia Hambrick, the reigning SEC Gymnast of the Week led the way with wins on vault, bars, floor and all-around. Hambrick tied her career high on vault with a 9.95 and floor with a 9.975. Hambrick posted an all-around score of 39.625 for her fourth title this season.

Junior Sarah Finnegan posted a 9.90 on beam and set a new career high on floor with a 9.975 for event titles. Sophomore Kennedi Edney set a season high on vault with a 9.95 for the title and senior Erin Macadaeg won beam with a 9.90 in the leadoff spot. The Tigers posted season-high scores of 49.650 on floor and 49.525 on vault.

Tigers in the National Rankings

LSU is the No. 4 team in the nation. The bars and floor squads rank second in the nation. LSU has set the second-highest score on bars this season and fifth-highest score on floor in school history just last week at Missouri. The Tigers also rank fourth on vault and beam.
