Gymnastics Ranked No. 3 in Preseason Poll

BATON ROUGE – The LSU gymnastics team, the defending Southeastern Conference champions and NCAA Runner-Up, is ranked No. 3 in the Road to Nationals Coaches’ Preseason Poll, the organization announced Monday.

The Tigers totaled 1,692 points and seven first-place votes. Oklahoma finished with 1,769 points for first and Florida followed in second with 1,728 points.

LSU heads into the 2018 season ranked in the top-five of the preseason poll for the fifth-straight season. The ranking also marks the 21st consecutive season in which LSU is ranked in the top-15.

In 2018, LSU will face off against 10 teams ranked in the top-25 with meets against No. 2 Florida and No. 4 Alabama coming in the first three weeks of the season. Four home meets in 2018 will come against teams ranked in the Top-25 of the preseason poll beginning with No. 19 Arkansas in the season opener on Friday, Jan. 5.

The team will be in action for a free showcase event, the fifth annual Gymnastics 101 Showcase, at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Season ticket holders will be able to pick up the 2018 “Holy Cow” t-shirts at portal C on the concourse.
