Wood Named to SEC Community Service Team

BATON ROUGE – Senior defensive specialist Cheyenne Wood has been selected to represent LSU on the SEC Volleyball Community Service Team for 2017, the league announced Wednesday.

The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 21 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

Wood has been involved in many community service projects this year. She has been a part of The Opening, which is located at the Nike World Headquarters. Wood has also been heavily involved with a program called Girls on the Run and Athletes for hope. She has attended the Glasgow Middle School PE class to help the students learn about physical education.

Wood has been involved in helping promote volleyball games with the fraternities and sororities on campus. She has participated in several campus events, including Bump up the Jam (a volleyball tournament for students held on campus), Move in Day (helping other students move into dorms on the LSU campus), and the Kids Clinic (a volleyball clinic for kids to learn volleyball skills).
