White Named Player of the Week for Record Fourth Time

BATON ROUGE – Devin White picked up his fourth Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor on Monday as the sophomore was tabbed by the league for the award for his play in LSU’s 45-21 win over Texas A&M.

White is the first player in SEC history to be named the league’s defensive player of the week four times in the same season.

Against the Aggies, White tied the LSU single-season record with his eighth double-digit tackle game as he recorded 13 stops in the victory. White added 1.5 tackles for loss, a quarterback hurry and his first career interception as the Tigers limited the Aggies to a season-low 55 rushing yards.

LSU forced four turnovers against the Aggies and held Texas A&M to 282 total yards and only 14 first downs. It was also the fourth straight game, and sixth times in eight contests this year, that LSU held a conference opponent without a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

White currently leads the SEC in tackles with 127, which ranks as the sixth-highest total in LSU history.

Other SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors this year for White came following wins over Florida, Auburn and Arkansas.
