Volleyball Travels to Arkansas

BATON ROUGE – The LSU volleyball team (16-6, 7-4 SEC) will look to rebound this weekend as the Tigers are on the road for the next three games, starting with a road trip to Arkansas (16-5, 6-5 SEC) Friday at 7 p.m. CT in Barnhill Arena.   

The matchup will air live on SEC Network+. Fans can access the match online through WatchESPN.com and the app.

Last Time Out
LSU fell to Tennessee in three sets on Sunday by scores of 23-25, 19-25 and 21-25. Gina Tillis led the Tigers with 16 kills. Olivia Beyer added 10 kills while Raigen Cianciulli registered 14 digs. Lindsay Flory dished out a season-high 23 assists to lead the Tigers.

A Look at Arkansas
Arkansas has won four of its last five matches and comes into the match with a 16-7 overall record and a 6-5 record for fifth place in the SEC. The Razorbacks are hitting .256 as a team and picking up 14.00 kills per set which is second among the league. Arkansas relies on Pilar Victoria to lead the offense as she leads the conference and nation in kills per set and points per set at 5.75 and 6.35, respectively. Rachel Rippee directs the offense and is second among the league in assists at 11.58. Okiana Valle anchors the back row with 314 digs at 3.53 per set.

All-Time vs. Arkansas
Arkansas leads the all-time series 28-19. The Tigers defeated the Razorbacks in the last meeting, taking them down in five sets. The victory for the Tigers was the first over the Razorbacks since Nov. 2, 2014. The Tigers have won eight times in Fayetteville with the last win on Nov. 2, 2014.

Team Notes
>> After falling twice last week, the Tigers sit in fourth place of the SEC, a half-game behind Missouri. LSU is 7-4 in the league and 16-6 overall and has an RPI of 36.

>> In the SEC, the Tigers rank sixth in hitting percentage at .233 and ranks fifth in opponent hitting percentage at .192. LSU is fourth in the league in blocks, averaging 2.48 per set.

>> Taylor Bannister ranks ninth in the league with 3.24 kills per set. Anna Zwiebel is sixth among the SEC in assists at 9.73 per set. Jacqui Armer is fourth in the league in blocks per set at 1.24. Raigen Cianciulli is averaging 4.05 digs per set which is sixth-best in the SEC.

>> In the last meeting against Arkansas, the Tigers claimed the victory in five-set fashion by scores of 25-23, 21-25, 19-25, 27-25 and 15-12. The Tigers had four player with double-digit kills, including a match-high 22 kills from freshman Taylor Bannister. Jacqui Armer was also a star in the game with a career-high 17 kills and a career-high .571 hitting percentage. She also had a career-high 11 blocks.
